Sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate (SDBS) is an anionic surfactant widely used in household detergents, industrial cleaners, and personal care products. It appears as a white to light yellow powder or paste and is known for its excellent emulsifying, foaming, and cleaning properties. Chemically, it is the sodium salt of dodecyl benzene sulfonic acid and is synthesized through the sulfonation of linear alkyl benzene followed by neutralization with sodium hydroxide. Its strong surfactant activity makes it a key ingredient in many formulations.
